ECO MEET
Mission: "to challenge and inspire an interest, appreciation and understanding of the natural sciences and the Kansas environment thru interscholastic competition."
Imagine a competition where knowledge of Kansas' wildlife and plants is the key to success! The ECO-MEETs offer a chance for the most naturally-qualified high school students to show what they know and win scholarships.
Participants are tested in four areas: Habitat written test, Focus written test, Scavenger Hunt (seek and find) and Interpretation- more than a skit and less than a speech, with elements of both-and alot of fun!
Both team and individual effort are recognizedd by giving college scholarships to the members of the top three teams and to the top two individuals in the ecosystem and focus tests.
Eco Meet team meetings are once a week August-November in Ms. Scribner's classroom 124 after school with competitions being completed by the first weekend in November. Join the team NOW!
Savenger Hunt--shortgrass prairie mammals
Skit---5 minutes on how animals and plants interact in a shortgrass prairie; we will plan for costumes, set and backbround sounds/music
Habitat and Focus Test—these challenging written tests have their theme changed annually. Go to http://kansasecomeet.org/ to view this year’s topics. Scores from both tests will be added to the team overall score AND receive an individual score. If an individidual scores in the top three then they will represent the school at the state competition in the written test event only, should the team not place in the top 3 for the four combined events.
Meeting are IMMEDIATELY AFTER SCHOOL; we will meet weekly
Regional competition is in October at Great Plains Nature Center
